OUR MISSION FOR 40 YEARS - ALWAYS PROVIDING AN UNCONDITIONAL WELCOME!
La Maison Marguerite was founded by the Grey Nuns of Montréal in 1977. Now an entirely lay corporation, this short- and long-term shelter welcomes single women 18 years of age and over, who are homeless, alone, without money and in distress.

La Maison Marguerite has been located in the La Petite Patrie sector of Montréal since 2007. It is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

FOUR AREAS OF INTERVENTION
Few organizations in Montréal offer the wide range of care provided by La Maison Marguerite: emergency housing and long-term accommodation, as well as post-shelter follow-up programs designed to help homeless women effect a lasting reintegration into society.


SHORT-TERM SHELTER Over its 40 years, La Maison Marguerite has welcomed more than 12,000 women at every hour of the day and night. These women are typically in dire straits, and each stay is determined according to specific needs and personal circumstances. La Maison Marguerite can accommodate up to 18 women in separate rooms, and this, for average stays of 29 days.		LONG-TERM ACCOMMODATION Our organization has been offering long-term accommodation, in transitional studios, to women in the process of social reintegration, who require extra time and resources to help stabilize their situation. And we have been offering this service since 2007 with 18 furnished studios for stays of up to 4 years.

POST-SHELTER FOLLOW-UP These services are aimed at women who have experienced housing instability associated with adjustment difficulties. The follow-up, therefore, aims at enhancing their strengths to foster sustainable social inclusiveness.		VOLUNTEER PROGRAM By promoting involvement by volunteers for these most marginalized of women in society, La Maison Marguerite hopes to maintain relationships with the community and combat the horror of social exclusion. Volunteers are at the very heart of the action within our organization: day after day, their continued presence, boundless energy and vibrant imagination help them build meaningful relationships with women who are socially isolated and supported by La Maison Marguerite.
